Cunard Building / Armed Forces Day
Marking the 100-day countdown to Armed Forces Day 2017.
In March 2017, personnel from all three services of the British Armed Forces gathered outside Liverpool's iconic Cunard Building to mark the 100-day countdown to Armed Forces Day.
Control Descent was commissioned to install three 5m x 19m banners, designed to withstand the high winds created by the building's exposed coastal location and the surrounding topography.
The three banners were unveiled to reveal the number 100, while six Royal Marines carried out simultaneous abseils from the building as part of the opening event.
The spectacular combination of the banner unveiling and six simultaneous abseils was designed to create a striking visual moment for the event — and to provide a spectacle for the 6 o'clock News.
