In 2015 we were approached by a producer from the BBC who wanted to stage an exciting and challenging task for DJ Scott Mills to fulfil in order to raise money for Children in Need 2015.
It was decided that an abseil from a very high structure was suitably challenging for Scott who had a distinct fear of heights. Risk Assessments were written, Blackpool Tower was surveyed and the Method Statement was worked out before hurricane Abigail foiled the plan. A last minute relocation to The Orbit in the Olympic Park was the alternative but the experience had unsettled the star of the show. Bottom line, Scott required more training to give him the the best chance of completing the task. Thanks to the use of a London Fire Brigade Tower, three intensive training sessions and the rigging team from wire&sky Scott was prepared to step into darkness in high wind at 260 feet and raise a stack of cash. A great all-round effort.
