On Thursday 19th September, 30 brave fundraisers abseiled down the BT Tower to support RMA – The Royal Marines Charity
The BT Tower has been an icon on the London landscape for over 50 years, and in that time they have only ever allowed 2 abseils, with 30 of our fundraisers now joining this very select group. Standing at over 627 feet tall, it held the record as the tallest building in London for nearly 20 years. Also taking on the challenge live on ITV’s Lorraine was Dr Hilary, who with a GoPro attached to his helmet plummeted the 627m with updates throughout Lorraine’s show. Dr Hilary was greeted at the bottom by the Royal Marines as they congratulated him on his efforts.
Would you please pass on my huge thanks to all those from Control Descent who helped us yesterday to achieve our goal.
The guys were amazing - and I know for sure had I not complete confidence in them, the procedures and the ropes I would not have been able to do it. You are all a fantastic team and I enjoyed meeting you all and hearing of experiences and brave careers in the Marines.
Huge thanks and appreciation for the support, training and professionalism which made it possible for myself and the rest of ‘Girls on Tower’ to achieve our goal. We are thrilled that £50,000 will be contributed to The Royal Marine Charity.
